Europe class UK Open and Youth Championships 2024 at Stokes Bay sailing Club
20 Europe sailors competed in the Europe class Open and Youth Championships at Stokes Bay sailing Club on 28-29 September 2024. The event featured a strong youth contingent, with participants vying for the inaugural Synergy Marine UK Europe Youth Championship title.
The weekend saw a mix of challenging conditions, with light and patchy NW breezes on Saturday and stronger winds of 20-28 knots on Sunday. Despite the varying conditions, the sailors put on an impressive display of skill and determination.
Local sailors Jason Belben and Chris Gill emerged as the top performers, with Belben ultimately claiming the top spot in the overall standings. The youth division also saw some standout performances, with Fin Lloyd making a mark in the youth standings.
The event showcased the growth of youth sailors in the Europe class, setting the stage for an exciting 2025 season. The next event for the class is the UK Europe Inland Championships at Staunton Harold SC before heading into winter sailing.
