The J/24 World Championship 2024 is taking place at the Corinthian Yacht Club of Seattle from 1-5 October 2024. On the first day of the championship, Nobuyuki Imai and his team on Siesta from Osaka, Japan, emerged victorious over their countryman Kohei Ichikawa on Gekko Diana from Tokyo in the first race. The teams from Japan showcased good crew work and boat speed in the 12-15 knot breeze, with both teams finishing on the podium in the last Japan National Championship.
The rivalry from Rochester also made its mark, with teams placing third and fourth. The day saw varied wind conditions, starting as a light southerly and then picking up to 10 knots from the north. Spectators enjoyed watching the race from the water, and racing will continue the following day at 11 AM PDT.
