The Melges 24 European Championship is set to take place in Split, Croatia, showcasing a competitive fleet of 44 boats from ten different countries. The event will run from 27 September to 4 October 2024 at JK Split.
The 2024 Melges 24 Europeans mark a significant milestone for the Melges 24 Croatian Class, which has rapidly become a key player in European sailing. With the upcoming championship and the assignment of the 2025 Melges 24 World Championship to Trieste, the class is experiencing a surge in popularity.
The event will feature ten races over the course of the week, with top competitors vying for the prestigious European title. Among the contenders are defending champions Strambapapà, along with strong homegrown talent such as Razjaren and Mataran 24 from Croatia.
International teams like Panjic from Croatia and Chinook from Hungary, as well as Italian representatives Altea and Melgina, will also be looking to make their mark on the competition.
The Melges 24 European Championship will bring together seasoned sailors like Miles Quinton’s Zhik Race Team and Michael Tarabochia’s White Room, adding to the level of competition.
Notable entries include Dark Horse from the United States, the last Melges 24 produced by the shipyard in Poland. The team is eager to compete against Europe‘s finest in preparation for the 2025 World Championship in Trieste.
