The Six Metre European Championships at the Real Club Nautico de Sanxenxo began with light winds and challenging conditions. The defending Classic European Champion, His Majesty King Juan Carlos of Spain’s Bribon, took an early lead in the Classic Division, while Basil Vasilou’s Jane Ann led the Open Division. Both fleets faced tight competition and shifty winds throughout the day.
Race victory went to Bribon in the Classic Division and Jane Ann in the Open Division on the first day of racing. Despite the tricky conditions, the teams displayed skill and determination on the water.
After a long day of racing, sailors returned to the warm hospitality of the Real Club Nautico de Sanxenxo. The event continues with two more races scheduled for the following day.
