The Volvo China Coast regatta 2024 kicked off with perfect sailing conditions for the IRC Racer fleet, marking the beginning of the Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club‘s 2024-2025 sailing season. The first day saw races starting on time in a 14 to 15kt easterly breeze, with a windward/leeward course followed by an island course. Race Officer Inge Strompf-Jepsen extended the courses due to the favorable weather, providing challenging yet enjoyable conditions for the sailors.

Notable performances included Rampage’s success in the IRC Racer 0 and IRC Cape 31 divisions, with Rampage 88 and Rampage38 leading the pack. In the Racer 2 division, Witchcraft and in Racer 3, Juice emerged victorious. Tomorrow’s races will see the IRC Premier and PHS classes joining the competition, with stronger winds forecasted.
