22 centenarians are eagerly awaiting the 13th Gstaad Yacht Club Centenary Trophy at the Voiles de Saint-Tropez on 3 October 2024.
The event promises to be exceptional as twenty-two competitors will participate in this unique race. The Gstaad Yacht Club, in partnership with the Société Nautique de Saint-Tropez, has worked diligently to organize this regatta, which brings together the finest centenary boats.
The Centenary Trophy race will follow a ‘pursuit race’ format, where boats start at specific times according to their rating. The first boat to cross the finish line is declared the winner, ensuring a fair competition for all participants.
Notable centenarian boats like Mariska (William Fife III 1908) and Tuiga (William Fife III 1909) will be among the competitors. The start time for the race is set at 12:30 on 3 October, with Lulu (1897) being the oldest centenarian and Arrow (1924) as the youngest.
Furthermore, a special ‘Swiss Night’ event will take place on 2 October at the Place des Lices, featuring Swiss delicacies and traditional activities. The Centenarian Award, recognizing significant achievements of boats over 100 years old, will also be presented at the event.
