The 34th Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, scheduled for 8-14 September 2024, saw a challenging start due to strong Mistral winds exceeding 25 knots. Fearing hazardous conditions, the Race Committee decided to cancel the day’s races early on, with plans to utilize the lay day on Thursday for racing. The Mistral wind is expected to persist but weaken in the coming days. Racing is set to resume tomorrow at 12 midday CEST, with forecasts of 15 to 23 knots of wind. The event aims to complete two windward-leeward races for the Maxi 2 class and a coastal course for all other classes. The Race Committee will continue to monitor conditions to maximize the racing program.
