Emirates Team NZ: Racing Abandoned for the Day – Resumes Tomorrow
The Louis Vuitton Cup Round Robins are not over yet, as inclement weather led to heavy rain across Barcelona and the eventual abandonment of the final day of racing for the Louis Vuitton Cup Round Robin.
Despite the AC75s heading out on time for their scheduled races, Emirates Team New Zealand was informed to return to the dock due to an incoming thunderstorm. The teams remained at their bases, awaiting updates from Regatta Director Iain Murray, who aimed to keep the racing on schedule.
Although the sun emerged and the rain subsided, the wind did not cooperate, resulting in the races being called off at 16:20 local time.
The final three races are now set to take place tomorrow. All eyes will be focused on the first two races: Orient Express Racing Team vs INEOS Britannia and Alinghi Red Bull Racing vs Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli. These races will determine the top qualifier and which team faces elimination from the Louis Vuitton 37th America’s Cup competition.
Emirates Team New Zealand is scheduled to compete against NYYC American Magic in their last race of the Louis Vuitton Cup Round Robins.
