Waldringfield Sailing Club Cartoon Trophy 2024 Squib Class
The Waldringfield Sailing Club Cartoon Trophy 2024 for the Squib class was a thrilling event held on 7-8 September 2024. The highlight of the end-of-summer season, sailors raced for a coveted ‘Giles’ Cartoon trophy.
The weather played a role in the race with calm conditions on Saturday leading to only two races being run after lunch. However, autumn arrived dramatically on Sunday with gusts of up to 28mph, providing exciting and challenging racing conditions. By the final race, only three Squibs were on the starting line.
In the end, Andy and Pete (Sail No 889) emerged victorious, closely followed by Patrick and Mike (Sail No 797). The battle among the local sailors was won by Barry and Susanne (Sail No 468). The overall results showed a mix of performances from the participants.
1st Place: Andrew Moore and Pete Hallinan (Sail No 889) from Felixstowe Ferry SC
2nd Place: Patrick Wilton and Mike Taylor (Sail No 797) from Haven Ports YC
3rd Place: Barry Searle and Susanne Eddis (Sail No 468) from Waldringfield SC
Other participants included Serica East and Gill Lamb, William and Trisha Sudell, Pete and Jen Greatrex, David Moon and Steve Condie, and John Davies and Mo Benner.
