The 34th Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda is currently underway in Porto Cervo, with the fleet enjoying perfect weather conditions. The Race Committee made the strategic decision to start the day’s racing early to take advantage of the ideal weather window. Two race courses were set up, one for a coastal race and the other for windward-leeward races.
In the Maxi 1 class, Wallycento V and Capricorno secured wins in the two races held today. Deep Blue currently leads the overall standings, closely followed by Django HF and Leopard 3. In the Maxi 2 class, Jolt is in the lead after completing three windward-leeward races.
The multihulls, Supermaxi class, Maxi 3, and Maxi 4 classes also had competitive races today, with various yachts showcasing their skills on the water. Tomorrow’s races are set to be challenging, with the potential for strong gusts of wind.
