Manly 16ft Skiff Club’s 2024/25 season officially kicked off last Saturday with a non-pointscore race in a dying southerly, featuring 17 boats. The race marked the debut of new 16s entrants, adding to the competitiveness of the already strong fleet. Davis Marine Brokerage, along with three other new boats, impressed with their performance.
Regulars Imagine Signage and Botany Access took the top two spots, while the newcomers showed promise with their third-place finish. The club welcomed the new sailors and expressed excitement for the upcoming season, expecting intense competition in both the 13ft and 16ft skiff fleets.
Davis Marine Brokerage’s successful start in the 16s category was a pleasant surprise, considering their limited time together. The skipper, Nathan McNamara, and his crew are looking forward to improving their racing skills as they continue in the season.
Handicap honors were awarded to Botany Access, setting the stage for the first pointscore race of the season this Saturday. The Manly 16ft Skiff Club is gearing up for another thrilling season with talented sailors and competitive races ahead.
