Andoo Team Australia ready to compete in UniCredit Youth America’s Cup regatta

Andoo Team Australia is gearing up for the start of the UniCredit Youth America’s Cup regatta in Barcelona. The team, led by Skipper Cole Tapper, has been in top form during practice days, securing impressive wins in preparation for the upcoming competition. With extensive simulator training and a few hours on the actual high-speed foiling AC40 yachts, the Australian squad is ready to take on the challenge.

The team will be competing in six fleet races for qualification, with Tapper co-helming the crew alongside Jack Ferguson, Max Paul, and Tom Needham. Supporting them are youth squad members Annie Wilmot, George Richardson, and Miles Davey. The sailors have honed their skills and troubleshooting abilities through hours of preparation, both on simulators and on the water.

CEO Peter Wrigley expressed pride in representing Australia at such a prestigious event, with mentorship from sailing legends John Bertrand AO and John Winning guiding the team. The competition will feature two groups of invited nations, with the top teams progressing to a finals series and a Match Race final to determine the winner.

Following the Youth America’s Cup, the Puig Women’s America’s Cup will begin, with training sessions leading up to the racing. The Australian team is well-prepared and eager to showcase their talent on the world stage.
