The 2024/25 Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore – Flinders Islet Race took place on 21-22 September 2024, with 33 yachts competing in the 88 nautical mile race from Sydney to Wollongong and back. The challenging race was marked by light and fickle winds, testing the skills of the sailors.

The start of the race saw tricky 4-6 knot WNW breeze, creating difficulties for some of the older and heavier boats. The TP52s KOA and Smuggler took an early lead, closely followed by mini maxis Whisper and URM Group. As the race progressed, the larger yachts asserted their dominance, with URM Group being the first to round Flinders Islet.

On the return leg, reaching conditions favored the bigger race boats, with TP52s Smuggler and KOA leading the IRC Overall standings. In the Double-Handed IRC category, Jules Hall’s Disko Trooper_Contender Sailcloth secured first place.

The competition in the Audi Centre Sydney Blue Water Pointscore is heating up, with Smuggler and URM Group setting the tone for future races. Overall results saw Smuggler, KOA, and Whisper leading in the IRC and PHS categories.
