The RS400 Trident UK Northern Tour concluded at the Great Northern Asymmetric Challenge at Bassenthwaite SC on 21-22 September 2024. A total of 20 RS400s participated in the event, with competitors enjoying ideal sailing conditions under sunny skies and a gentle breeze.
Local sailors Chris Pickles and Matt Sharman led after the first day, with close competition from Alistair and Tom Coates, and Richard and Heather Marsh. After a night of socializing, the fleet faced lighter winds on Sunday, leading to a delay in racing. Eventually, two more races were completed, with Josh and Patrick Metcalfe claiming victory in both.
Ultimately, Chris and Matt secured the overall win, with Josh and Patrick in second, and Alistair and Tom in third. The event marked the end of the 2024 Northern Tour, with Chris Pickles and Matt Sharman emerging as the tour champions.
