EAORA Buckley Goblets 2024: West Mersea Yacht Club Event
EAORA Buckley Goblets 2024 took place at West Mersea Yacht Club on 13-14 September 2024. The final race of the Offshore series for EAORA saw exciting competition. Richard Matthews set a new record with his blue Carkeek 52, Oystercatcher XXXV, reaching Ostend in just over 6 hours. West Mersea Yacht Club had two podium finishers, including Micheal & Jason Wheeler with their Classic Sparkman & Stevens Golden Fleece. The race featured 11 boats, with hopes for increased participation in the Mocra fleet. William Sunnucks from HPYC faced challenges with his Grand Soleil 46.3 due to a stuck code zero. New boats like White Satin and Warrior joined the EAORA fleet, adding to the competitive mix. The overall season winner was Spirit, owned by Paul Scott. The event was well-received at the Royal North Sea Yacht Club, with a warm prize-giving ceremony to wrap up the successful season.
