RS Aero Sustainability Challenge at Papercourt Sailing Club: Promoting Eco-Friendly Practices in Sailing

The RS Aero Sustainability Challenge took place at Papercourt sailing Club on 22 September 2024, with 6 committed RS Aero sailors participating in light and shifty conditions. The event showcased environmentally sensitive management at the Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), with racing around the latest brood of signets.

In the first race, Mark Carleton led to the windward mark followed by Sam Tozer and Jamie Robinson. There was plenty of position swapping throughout the race, with Sam ultimately taking the win. Race two saw Sam and Liz leading the fleet in tricky conditions, with Sam securing his second victory after a close match-race finish with Mark. Unfortunately, afternoon racing was canceled due to lack of breeze.

Congratulations to Sam Tozer for winning the RS Aero 7 and overall, Jamie Robinson for winning the RS Aero 6, and Susan Lewis for securing the RS Aero 5. Trophies were awarded by The Green Blue, with a post-race celebration featuring plenty of cake.

Next up for the UK RS Aeros are the Salcombe YC Open, RS Aero Masters Champs, Notts County SC Open, and the Scottish RS Aeros at the Dalgety Bay SC regatta. View the RS Aero UK Events List for more information.

1st – Sam Tozer
