UK Southern Championship at Stokes Bay Sailing Club – Allen OK Class



The Allen OK class UK Southern Championship took place at Stokes Bay sailing Club on the weekend of 28-29 September 2024. The event saw 16 eager sailors competing in varying wind conditions over the two days.

Saturday’s racing featured light and shifty winds, providing a challenging course for the sailors. Charlie Cumbley of North Sails showed great skill in navigating the shifting breeze, ultimately taking the lead in the first race. The day continued with close battles between competitors, showcasing the unpredictable nature of racing in the Solent.

Sunday brought stronger winds, with Andrew Mills seizing the opportunity to showcase his sailing skills in the challenging conditions. The racing was intense, with tight competition throughout the fleet. Despite some tactical errors and changing tide conditions, the sailors put on a thrilling display of racing.

In the end, Charlie Cumbley secured first place, closely followed by Andy Davis and Andrew Mills. The event was a true test of skill and resilience, with sailors navigating changing conditions and tough competition.

The top five sailors represented a mix of sail manufacturers, hull builders, and weight ranges, highlighting the diverse nature of the OK class fleet. The support from Allen Brothers and the hard work of the event organizers made the championship a success.
