The 2023 Shark World Championships were honored with two prestigious awards by Sail Canada. The event received the Sail Canada City of Kingston regatta of the Year and the Chisholm Trophy for Excellence in Race Management for 2023.

The City of Kingston regatta of the Year Award recognizes a regatta that excels in all aspects of race management, achieving event objectives, community involvement, and positive feedback from participants. The Chisholm Trophy for Excellence in Race Management Award acknowledges the club or association with the best-managed races during the award year.

Hosted by the Niagara-on-the-Lake sailing Club, the 56th Shark World Championships saw 48 crews competing from various countries. The event was praised for its organization, racing quality, and adherence to sailor for the Sea Clean regatta protocols, earning a Gold Standard certification.

regatta Chairperson Rod Gardner expressed gratitude for the awards, highlighting the successful collaboration between volunteers, sailors, and participants in achieving the Gold status. International Shark Class President John D. Brunt also commended the regatta for its exceptional organization and environmental consciousness.
