ORC World Championship at New York Yacht Club – Day 4 Update
Two more races were held today at the 2024 ORC World Championship at New York Yacht Club, with discards applied to the evolving leaderboards. The windward-leeward inshore races saw close competition, resulting in new race winners and tighter points margins on the leaderboard in some classes.
Class 0 continues to be dominated by Victor Wild’s TP52 FOX 2.0, but with other teams making their mark in the race results. In Class A, Austin & Gwen Fragomen’s Botin 44 INTERLODGE IV maintains a strong lead, while Class B sees Marcin Sutkowski’s Grand Soleil 44 WIND WHISPER 44 leading the pack.
The Maxi class saw Jim Swartz’s Maxi 72 VESPER and Hap Fauth’s Maxi 72 BELLE MENTE battling it out in today’s races, with close finishes in each race.
Tomorrow’s schedule includes another distance race for the ORC Worlds classes. The overall standings are shaping up to be highly competitive, with only narrow margins separating the top teams in each class.
