National 12 Open at Yeadon sailing Club
Short Beats and Wind Shadows
The National 12 Open Meeting took place on 6th October at Yeadon sailing Club under challenging wind conditions. Despite the forecasted SE winds, the race faced wind shadow effects around the course due to surrounding trees. The competitors navigated through the unique course layout, with Philip and Emma securing a lead in the first race.
After a break for lunch, two more races were held, showcasing different boat designs and strategies in the light winds. Philip and Emma maintained their dominance in the following races, with a final experimental race swapping boats with Tim and Chris.
The event concluded with Philip and Emma taking home the Tarn Trophy and the winners of the 2024 Northern Traveller Series recognized. Yeadon sailing Club expressed gratitude to all participants and looks forward to hosting the 2025 open meeting.
