The Irish Squib Inland Championship took place at Lough Derg Yacht Club on 12-13 October 2024. Despite the cold autumn weather, forty-four owners brought their Squib keelboats to compete in the event. The races were well organized under the supervision of PRO Lt. Cdr. John F. Leech, with windward-leeward races of two laps.
In the first race, ‘Quickstep III’ emerged victorious, while in the second race, ‘Atomic’ took the lead. ‘Mucky Duck’ claimed victory in the third race, and another race was authorized by the Chairman of the Irish Squib Class, Travers, where ‘Mucky Duck’ won again.
The event concluded with ‘Quickstep III’ clinching the overall victory, followed closely by ‘Crackers’ and ‘Atomic’. The 50 Squibs are set to return to Lough Derg Yacht Club in June for the Irish Squib Championship.
