Henri-Lloyd Launches Marine Conservation Project at Dartmouth Royal Regatta 2024

Applications Invited for Leaderbox Blue Citizen Science Project

Henri-Lloyd, the official clothing partner of the Dartmouth Royal Regatta Sailing Week, is proud to support marine environmentalist and broadcaster Monty Halls in his call for local groups, schools, organizations, and individuals to propose ideas for marine conservation and research projects in the South Hams area.

As one of the first sponsors of Monty Halls’ Leaderbox Blue initiative, Henri-Lloyd encourages active participation in marine conservation through citizen science. This project allows anyone, whether individually or as part of a group, to engage directly in marine conservation efforts.

Leaderbox Blue is designed to promote hands-on involvement, aiming to launch over 1,000 community marine conservation projects both nationally and internationally within five years. The Leaderbox Blue kit comes in a rugged, fully waterproof case and includes everything necessary for various projects, including Beach Clean, Habitat Restoration, Biodiversity Survey, and Awareness Campaign.

This comprehensive kit comprises activity and data cards, quick start guides, risk assessments, and insurance documentation, along with collection equipment, gloves, radios, and a first aid kit. With a dedicated support network, website, group forums, and e-learning facilities, participants will be well-equipped to succeed in their chosen projects.

Amy Hawke, Store Manager of the Henri-Lloyd store in Dartmouth, encourages anyone with a marine conservation idea to apply for the Leaderbox Blue project in-store. Monty Halls will review submissions and select the winning project.

“Applications are welcome from individuals, families, wild swimming groups, sailing or rowing clubs, charities, schools, and communities. Whether you want to organize a beach clean, remove waste from our coastlines, monitor local wildlife, or support an existing project, the Leaderbox Blue empowers you to take action and contribute meaningfully to citizen science and the protection of our marine environment,” says Amy.
