ILCA Lakeland & Borders Grand Prix at Derwent Reservoir sailing Club
Nineteen ILCAs participated in the Lakeland & Borders Grand Prix at Derwent Reservoir sailing Club on 12th October 2024. The weather conditions ranged from 12 to 28 knots, providing a challenging race day for the competitors.
Competitors faced strong winds of up to 25kts, with five back-to-back races scheduled on a mix of triangle and sausage courses. Despite the tough conditions, Spirit Alderson showed dominance with three race wins in his ILCA6. The fleet faced survival conditions in races 1 to 3, with the ILCA7s struggling to compete on PY against the 4s and 6s.
