The International RS Tera Class Association is thrilled to announce that the 2025 RS Tera World Championship will take place at Jachetní Klub Cerná v Pošumaví on the picturesque shores of Lake Lipno in the Czech Republic, from August 3rd to 8th.
Known as the ‘South Bohemian Sea’, Lake Lipno sits at an elevation of 726 meters and is a man-made reservoir created between 1952 and 1959. The lake spans an impressive 49 kilometers in length and 9 kilometers in width, providing excellent sailing conditions with stable westerly-to-south-westerly winds and stunning forest scenery. It boasts premium sailing club facilities, making it an ideal venue for the World Championship.
Event Manager Václav Brabec expressed great honor in hosting the 2025 Class World Championship at this remarkable location. The area is renowned for its outstanding sailing conditions, with average wind speeds ranging from 6 to 18 knots. Jachetní Klub Cerná v Pošumaví has successfully hosted numerous prestigious events, including the RS Feva European Championships and RS500 World Championship, establishing a solid reputation for high-caliber racing events.
Michal Lojka, President of the host club, reflects on the fond memories of the RS Feva Class Europeans held in 2016 and 2022, as well as the RS500 World Championship in 2019. He looks forward to welcoming RS Tera competitors from across the globe and creating a vibrant atmosphere during the event.
With a proven track record of delivering exciting racing and full weekly programs, Jachetní Klub Cerná v Pošumaví is well-equipped to host the International RS Tera Class Association World Championship in 2025.
Petr Bríza, Chairman of the Czech RS Association, shared his enthusiasm for the decision to award the 2025 Worlds to the Czech Republic, viewing it as a reward for their commitment to developing the RS Tera Class in the region.
Peter Toft, International RS Tera Class Vice-Chair, emphasized the importance of class development in venue selection. The 2025 event aligns with the International RS Tera Class commitment to supporting countries engaged in RS Tera development.
Following a record-breaking World Championship in Denmark in 2024, where entries sold out months in advance, the International RS Tera Class anticipates even greater participation in 2025.
The event will feature boat measurement and pre-event training from August 3rd to 4th, 2025, with racing scheduled from August 5th to 8th. The event dates are strategically chosen to allow families to attend both the RS Tera Worlds and the preceding 2025 RS Feva World Championship in France.
The club’s race area is conveniently located just a five-minute sail from the beach, with a variety of accommodation options nearby, ranging from campsites and AirBnBs to 4-star hotels.
