Athena Pathway is all set to make history in the groundbreaking Puig Women’s America’s Cup as twelve nations gear up to compete in Barcelona. The event marks a significant moment in the America’s Cup history, with the inclusion of a women’s event for the first time.
Launched by Hannah Mills OBE and Sir Ben Ainslie in August 2022, Athena Pathway aims to fast-track development in high-performance sailing and promote diversity in the sport. The British team’s squad features Olympic medallists, offshore sailors, and foiling specialists, led by Hannah Mills OBE and Saskia Clark MBE.
The team has been training in Spain, both on land and on water, in preparation for the event. Athena Pathway focuses on skill development and career growth opportunities for its members, with strategic and technical support from partners Cobham-Ultra and Bain & Company.
The Puig Women’s America’s Cup will see twelve teams competing, with the top two teams facing off in a winner-takes-all Final Match Race. The event kicks off on Saturday and will be available for free viewing on Sail-World.com and YachtsandYachting.com.
