Hebe Haven Yacht Club (HHYC) recently hosted Bart’s Bash 2024, the 11th edition of this annual event. The race aims to raise funds for Sailability Hong Kong Limited, an organization dedicated to making sailing accessible to all. This year, 132 sailors participated in the event, including those from Sailability Hong Kong, Children’s Cancer Foundation, HHYC Members, and Hebe Haven’s Hebe Dragons. The sailors competed in 83 boats across 6 different classes.
All boats started together with a black flag, adding to the excitement of the race. Despite challenging wind conditions, the sailors completed a triangular course and enjoyed a Bart’s Bash Burger lunch. Despite having to abandon the afternoon race due to dropping winds, the spirit of the event remained high.
Sailability Hong Kong faced challenges leading up to the event, including cancellations due to heavy rain and Typhoon Yagi. However, they managed to conduct 37 courses with 548 sailors on the water. The organization relies on sponsors, donors, volunteers, and enthusiastic sailors to continue their programs.
