RS700 Rooster National Tour at Brightlingsea sailing Club
Carter struts his stuff in Essex
It was back to the 2023 Nationals venue of Brightlingsea for the RS700s, next stop on the Rooster National Tour. The home fleet welcomed visitors to occasional blue skies and consistently brown waters. With the course being shared with other fleets, there was mild trepidation over how the fleets may come together on the windward/leeward racetrack. In the end, fears were allayed and no skewering occurred.
Day one opened with a pleasant 10-14 knot breeze. Matt Carter dominated the races, securing wins with newly elected Class Chair, Matt Conner, and Pete Purkiss following closely behind.
The evening events started early, with the combined fleets sharing a great evening of hospitality and a delicious galley-cooked curry.
Day two saw lighter winds as forecasted, with Matt Carter continuing his winning streak. Pete Purkiss used local knowledge to secure second place in most races. Steve Carr proved to be a challenge in light winds, settling for second place in the final race.
Once again, Brightlingsea delivered excellent hospitality and well-run race management. Thank you to Rooster our National Tour sponsor.

2. Peter Purkiss – BSC – 9 points
