The Cadet class Inland Championship 2024 took place at Datchet Water sailing Club on 14-15 September 2024. Nestled between Windsor Castle and Heathrow Airport, the Queen Mother reservoir provided the perfect setting for this event. The competition saw a strong turnout from both the Cadet and 420 classes, offering young sailors an opportunity to showcase their skills and potential pathways in the world of sailing.

Ex Cadets who had transitioned to 420s also participated, further highlighting the developmental aspect of the Cadet class in preparing young sailors for future endeavors. The competitive racing across both fleets demonstrated the talent and dedication of the participants.

Despite light wind forecasts, the racing was intense and exciting. In the Cadet main fleet, Monty Hampton and Charlie Jones emerged as the overall winners, with strong performances from other competitors as well. The regatta fleet also saw impressive sailing, with Lewis Walker and Oliver Walker securing first place.

Special awards were given out to recognize standout performances, including highest place boat helmed by various age categories and youngest crew member. The event also celebrated the hard work of committee members who have contributed significantly to the Cadet class over the years.

The Cadet class extends its gratitude to Datchet Water sailing Club, sponsors, volunteers, and the 420 class for making the event possible. Upcoming events in the Cadet calendar include training sessions and the Waldringfield Open.
