Centro Velico Punta Ala Hosts A Class Cat World Championships

The A Class Cat World Championships at Centro Velico Punta Ala kicked off with some dramatic weather conditions on the Tuscan coast. Despite a massive thunderstorm the night before, the sailors were eager to hit the water for two races. The racing saw intense competition in both the Classic and Open foiling fleets, with challenging wind and sea conditions testing the skills of the sailors.

In the Classic fleet, Jacek Noetzel from Poland took an early lead, demonstrating his experience in challenging conditions. The Open foiling fleet saw defending champion Jakub Surowiec from Poland dominating the races with his expert foiling skills.

After the races, some sailors faced challenges navigating the beach break, resulting in a few collisions and broken rudder winglets. However, safety measures were in place to ensure everyone’s well-being. The day ended with Jacek Noetzel leading the Classic fleet and Jakub Surowiec leading the Open foiling fleet in the standings.

Overall, the first day of the A Class Cat World Championships was full of excitement and challenges, setting the stage for an action-packed competition ahead.
