Challenging day with double defeats

Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli faced a challenging day with two losses against INEOS Britannia in the Louis Vuitton Cup Final on October 2, 2024. The conditions were tough, with a strong east wind and crossed waves making maneuvering the AC75s difficult. Despite their best efforts, the Italian team couldn’t secure a victory in either race.

Design Coordinator Horacio Carabelli acknowledged the team’s difficulties, citing jib selection issues and strong competition from the British crew. Looking ahead, the team remains focused on their goal of reaching the America’s Cup.

In the first race, GBR took the lead early and maintained it throughout, ultimately winning. In the second race, Luna Rossa made a strong comeback but fell short of overtaking GBR, who secured another victory.

The Italian crew featured Jimmy Spithill, Francesco Bruni, Umberto Molineris, Andrea Tesei, Enrico Voltolini, Bruno Rosetti, Cesare Gabbia, Emanuele Liuzzi, Paolo Simion, and Luca Kirwan.
