The 2024 LOMO Blaze Inland Championships took place at Chase sailing Club on October 12th and 13th, showcasing challenging weather conditions and intense competition. The event marked the final Blaze Championship of the season and the deciding race of the Blaze Traveller Series.

The weekend kicked off with steady winds on Saturday, prompting the race organizers to schedule five consecutive races to make the most of the favorable conditions. Competitors rose to the challenge, with a 32-strong fleet launching for two back-to-back races.

Christian Smart and Ben Pickering emerged as early frontrunners, claiming victories in the first two races. As the day progressed, the fleet faced increasingly challenging conditions, with strong winds and tactical racing keeping sailors on their toes.

After a long day on the water, competitors gathered for a Mexican-themed night of celebrations at the clubhouse, setting the stage for a thrilling conclusion on Sunday.

Day two saw Ben Pickering maintain his lead to secure the championship title, with Charlie Matthews and Christian Smart rounding out the podium. The prize table was filled with sponsored goodies, and various class categories recognized outstanding performances.

The Blaze Class Association also announced a Fire Sail Demo Scheme, offering members the opportunity to trial the new Fire sail and promote the class within their clubs.

The event concluded with the presentation of the Travellers Series results, highlighting the competitive spirit and camaraderie among Blaze sailors. With a successful championship and series in the books, the Blaze Class looks forward to continued growth and excitement in the sailing community.
