Dame Ellen MacArthur’s cancer charity, the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust, has had its most successful summer yet, helping 671 young cancer survivors across the UK. The Trust runs sailing adventures that inspire young people affected by cancer to believe in a brighter future. One participant, Sophie Williamson, shared her experience of how the Trust helped her after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma. Beyond treatment, cancer can greatly impact a young person’s mental wellbeing, and the Trust aims to support them in adjusting to life after cancer. Through sailing and outdoor activities, young people gain self-confidence, independence, and a positive outlook for the future. The Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust is open to anyone seeking support, regardless of how long they have been off treatment.
