Irish Flying Fifteen East Coast Championship at National Yacht Club
Shane McCarthy and Hugh McNally dominated the Irish Flying Fifteen East Coast Championship at National Yacht Club, securing five race wins to claim victory. Competing against a diverse fleet from all over Ireland, they faced some challenges on the second day of racing but ultimately emerged victorious.
Local sailors David Gorman & Chris Doorly finished in second place overall, with Peter & Juliette Kennedy taking third place in Peter’s final regatta before the boat transitions to a new owner at the Royal St George Yacht Club. The competition was fierce in the Silver fleet, with Niall Coleman & Conor Grimley claiming the top spot.
The race committee led by Eddie Totterdell ensured smooth and efficient racing, with competitors praising the quality of the regatta. The event was physically demanding, particularly due to choppy conditions on the first day of racing.
Overall, it was a successful event with close competition throughout the fleet. The focus now shifts to the upcoming Southern Championships at Lough Derg Yacht Club in October. Congratulations to all the participants and volunteers who made this event possible.
