When looking for a peaceful anchorage to spend several days in uncertain weather, Waiatt Bay on Quadra Island seemed like the perfect choice. After navigating through Lewis and Calm channels, we arrived at the bay, passing the inviting Octopus Islands Marine Park to find a secluded spot for our boat. Waiatt Bay offers plenty of space for anchoring and exploring by kayak, with the option to hike the well-kept trails nearby.

During our stay, we experienced a mix of rainy and sunny days, taking advantage of the clear weather to hike to Small Inlet and Newton Lake. The trails offered a glimpse of the lush forest and stunning views of the surrounding area, with the highlight being the swimming rock at Newton Lake where we enjoyed a peaceful picnic.

These moments of solitude in nature are the ones we cherish and look back on during the colder months, feeling grateful for the opportunity to explore and share these hidden gems with others. As we plan our future cruising adventures, we are reminded of the beauty and tranquility found in places like Waiatt Bay. Stay safe and keep exploring.
