Ferdinando Pilli has been appointed as the new General Manager at Lusben, marking a key investment announcement at the Livorno yard. With a wealth of experience in the industry, Pilli brings a deep understanding of both new-build and refit markets, having previously held important roles in major shipyards. He most recently served as the Custom Operations Director at Benetti, a division of the Azimut|Benetti Group.
Under Pilli’s leadership, Lusben is set to continue its trajectory of innovation and growth as a leading hub for refit and repair work on large motor and sailing yachts. The yard is currently investing €12 million in new infrastructure, including a state-of-the-art keel pit for sailing yachts. This pit, the largest in the Mediterranean, enables maintenance and repairs on canting keel yachts up to 70 meters in length.
In addition to the new keel pit, Lusben has expanded its dock area to accommodate more yachts, with renovated lots capable of hosting various sized vessels. The yard has also invested in a new trailer for boats up to 80 meters in length, improving efficiency and capacity for yacht management and handling. These investments are part of a broader expansion plan that aims to optimize efficiency and capacity at the Livorno shipyard.
Upon completion in 2026, the total area of the site will reach 220,000 square meters, with spaces for 35 units on land and 32 at sea. The development plans also include provisions for vessels longer than 100 meters. Overall, these upgrades signal a promising future for Lusben, aligning with the yard’s growth strategies and commitment to excellence in the Superyacht Industry.
