SailGP is gearing up for Season 5 with an 11-boat national fleet of F50s set to compete in Dubai this November. However, the final lineup is still uncertain as the fate of three teams remains unknown.
The confirmed F50 lineup includes two new national teams, with discussions ongoing for an Italian team led by Jimmy Spithill. Canada has secured its spot in the league with a new owner, while the remaining teams on the start line include Australia, Rockwool Denmark, Emirates GBR, and others.
SailGP is expediting the development of a 12th F50 catamaran, utilizing elements from an AC50 previously used by Team New Zealand. This boat will not be ready for Dubai, leading to one team missing the season opener. However, they will receive compensatory points before joining the rest of the fleet in Auckland in January 2025. More details on this will be shared soon.
