Fleet of 67 yachts sets sail in the 2024 PIC Coastal Classic from Auckland. The race kicked off in ideal conditions, with a moderate north wind allowing the boats to head towards Russell in the Bay of Islands. Unfortunately, eight yachts had to withdraw early, including the line honors favorite, trimaran Fat Freddy. Despite the challenges, the diverse mix of boats in the race are enjoying the competition. The frontrunners are yet to reach Tutukaka as night falls, navigating through tactically challenging conditions. The iconic event is organized by the New Zealand Multihull Yacht Club and is supported by various marine brands. For updates and results, visit the official PIC Coastal Classic website.
