The city of Genova has partnered with the Clipper Race for the first time, offering young Italians the opportunity to race across oceans. The Genova team will compete in the Clipper 2025-26 Round the World Yacht Race, covering 40,000 nautical miles and six ocean crossings. The partnership was announced at the Genova Boat Show, with the city aiming to showcase its maritime history and culture on a global stage.

Young Italians can apply to be Ambassador Crew members on the Genova yacht, representing the city during the race. Genova, known for its rich maritime heritage and picturesque coastline, will benefit from the international exposure the Clipper Race offers. Participants from diverse backgrounds join the race, testing their skills and resilience on challenging ocean crossings.

Sir Robin Knox-Johnston expressed excitement about Genova’s involvement in the race, highlighting the success of previous Ambassador Programmes. The Mayor of Genova emphasized the unique opportunity for four young individuals to participate in the circumnavigation, promoting the city globally. The Clipper Race is considered a prestigious international event, offering a distinctive way to sail around the world while representing Genova.
