ILCA UK Midlands Grand Prix at Chelmarsh sailing Club

On Saturday 28th September fourteen sailors gathered at Chelmarsh sailing Club, in Shropshire for the ILCA UK Midlands Grand Prix, including five helms from the home fleet.

The forecast promised a challenge for both helms and the race management team. PRO Mat Thursfield and his team provided excellent race management, setting challenging courses and ensuring fair competition.

In the first race, John Ling (Bartley SC) dominated and secured a comfortable win. The second race saw many place changes, with Nilesh Parekh (Chelmarsh SC) impressing in his first open meeting. Lunch provided a break before the final race.

In race three, John Ling was upset and had to settle for second place. Overall, Ling claimed the top spot, with Paul Keeling (Blithfield SC) in second and Dean Jung (Midlands SC) in third.

Christine Burnham was the first lady and Robyn Taylor (TrimpleySC) was the first Junior. Will Ranson led the home fleet with consistent scores.

A great day of sailing concluded with thanks to the race team and galley staff. Overall results are as follows:
