INEOS Britannia secures two race wins in 37th America’s Cup Match
INEOS Britannia, the British Challenger of Record, has secured two race wins against Emirates Team New Zealand in the 37th America’s Cup Match. With the score at 4-2 to the Kiwis, INEOS Britannia is the first British team to enter the America’s Cup Match in 60 years, and the last time a British team scored points in an America’s Cup Match was 90 years ago.
Team Principal and Skipper Ben Ainslie praised the team’s effort in challenging conditions, highlighting the importance of continuous improvement. The first race of the day saw INEOS Britannia take a lead due to tricky conditions, securing the biggest win margin of the Match so far.
The second race was a tense battle in improved breeze, with ETNZ closing the gap but ultimately falling short. INEOS Britannia Trimmer Leigh McMillan expressed excitement over the wins and the team’s momentum heading into the next races.
