INEOS Britannia‘s America’s Cup Challenge Comes to an End in Barcelona
INEOS Britannia, the British Challenger of Record racing for the Royal Yacht Squadron Ltd, concluded its campaign for the 37th America’s Cup with a 7-2 defeat to Emirates Team New Zealand.
This marked a historic campaign for Britain, achieving the first-ever British team to win an America’s Cup Challenger Series, race in the America’s Cup Match in 60 years, and score points in the Match in 90 years, setting a new standard for British sailing.
The ninth race saw INEOS Britannia leading at the start but Emirates Team New Zealand managed to overtake and secure the victory, ending the America’s Cup dream for INEOS Britannia.
After the race, Team Principal and Skipper Ben Ainslie expressed his pride in the team’s efforts and determination throughout the campaign, highlighting the progress made and the commitment to Britain’s future in the America’s Cup.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman of INEOS, commended the team’s achievements, emphasizing the dedication and progress made by everyone involved in the campaign.
