Juliette Kennedy secures second win in RYA Match Racing Series

Juliette Kennedy secured her second victory in the RYA Match Racing Series at Queen Mary sailing Club in London. This win comes just two weeks after her triumph at the RYA Marlow Women’s Match Racing Championship. The competition featured six teams sailing in RS21 keelboats in glorious weather conditions.

The event saw some early challenges for new teams, with disqualifications for various infractions. Despite the setbacks, teams like Toby Bush’s managed to recover and perform well. The race committee navigated through challenging conditions to complete 12 flights of racing.

The semi-finals showcased intense match-ups, with Oli Hale’s team dominating and securing a spot in the final against Juliette Kennedy’s team. Kennedy’s team displayed exceptional skill and strategy, ultimately winning the final in a close three-race series.

Kennedy expressed her surprise and joy at the victory, highlighting the fun and low-pressure approach they took to the event. The RYA Match Racing Series continues with the final qualifier in Scotland before the Grand Finals at Queen Mary sailing Club.

Event director Patrick Croghan commended the volunteers, host venue, and sailors for delivering top-quality racing. The top teams from each event in the series will compete in the Grand Finals, with more information available on the RYA Match Racing website.
