The fourth day of the Louis Vuitton Cup Round Robins featured cloudy conditions with occasional rain, but the 10-12 knot easterly winds provided ideal racing conditions.

Many spectators, including numerous Italian fans, gathered onshore and on the water to cheer for Luna Rossa. Their support was well rewarded as Luna Rossa secured a significant victory over Alinghi, earning another vital point in the elimination rounds.

MATCH #11: SUI vs ITA

The race began with Luna Rossa and Alinghi crossing the starting line simultaneously. However, Luna Rossa quickly gained an advantage by forcing Alinghi to tack, extending their lead to the left side of the course. They rounded the first gate just four seconds ahead. As they continued downwind, Luna Rossa’s speed increased, extending their lead to eleven seconds by gate two. After that, Alinghi struggled to close the gap, allowing Luna Rossa to focus on managing wind shifts and maintaining their lead to secure another strong victory in the Louis Vuitton Cup.

Winner: ITA (+1)

Luna Rossa’s crew for this race consisted of helmsmen Jimmy Spithill and Francesco Bruni, with Umberto Molineris and Andrea Tesei handling the trimming. The cyclors included Enrico Voltolini, Bruno Rosetti, Cesare Gabbia, and Emanuele Liuzzi.
