The 34th Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup at Yacht Club Costa Smeralda concluded on a high note, with excellent sailing conditions and thrilling races. The event, organized by YCCS and sponsored by Rolex, saw Joost Schuijff’s Leopard 3 clinching victory in the Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship. Other winners included Proteus, Svea, Oscar 3, H2O, and Gaetana in their respective divisions.

Racing took place in Mistral winds of 16 to 24 knots, with a coastal course showcasing the beauty of Porto Cervo. Close battles between top competitors added excitement to the event, with Leopard 3 emerging as the world champion in the Maxi 1 class. The Race Committee’s decision to start early ensured a full day of competitive sailing, with different classes covering varying course lengths.

In addition to the thrilling races, spectators enjoyed watching young athletes from the Young Azzurra sports program sail on maxi yachts owned by YCCS members. The prize-giving ceremony recognized the winners with Rolex timepieces and prestigious trophies, highlighting the success of the event. The use of electric buoys with GPS positioning showcased YCCS’s commitment to sustainability.
