Minimal Change: Nick Craig Retains Lead in OK Dinghy World Rankings

Nick Craig Continues to Lead the OK Dinghy World Rankings

World Champion Nick Craig from Britain has successfully maintained his lead in the September 2024 OK Dinghy World Ranking List. Following him is Sweden’s Patric Mure in second place, while Britain’s Andy Davis rounds out the top three. Remarkably, the top five positions have not changed since the last ranking.

The latest list incorporates results from 12 events held across nine nations, showcasing a stable ranking at the top. Currently, there are 786 sailors from 18 countries featured in the rankings, representing over 75% of active participants in the sport.

Andy Davis secured victory in the first major event of the European season, the Spring Cup in Medemblik. Additionally, Mark Jackson claimed victory in the Sail Bellarine, the only event recorded in the southern hemisphere for this ranking release.

In Germany, Sweden’s Niklas Edlar triumphed at Kieler Woche, which attracted an impressive 72 entries. Ulli Kurfeld won the Warnemunder Woche shortly thereafter. Morten Jakobsen was successful in both Thai events, including the Thai national championship held in Sattahip. Meanwhile, Tom Lonsdale made history by winning the first Scottish championship in many years, and Nick Craig added yet another British National title to his impressive collection this summer.

In Scandinavia, Bo Petersen took first place in the Danish Nationals, which featured competitive conditions with 105 boats participating. Former World No.1 Thomas Hansson-Mild was victorious in both the Nordics and the Swedish championship. The Dutch nationals also saw a robust international turnout with 34 boats, ultimately won by local sailor Stefan de Vries.

The top 10 rankings show no significant changes or new entries as the competitive season unfolds. Looking ahead, the fleet is keenly anticipating the conclusion of the season events, including the popular Autumn Trophy in Bandol and the European Championship in Palma, scheduled for October. These events may lead to shifts in the standings as the next release is expected in November.
