Etchells North American Championship at Corinthian Yacht Club of Marblehead

The 2024 Etchells North Americans concluded in Marblehead, Massachusetts, with a dramatic finish that saw just two points separating the podium finishers. The final race was intense, with unpredictable winds challenging both race officials and sailors. John Dane and his crew aboard DanEgerous USA 1427 clinched victory by securing a bullet in the final race, narrowly beating Jim Cunningham on Lifted USA 1504 by one point. Luke Lawrence and his team on Cruel Jane 2.0 CAN 1501 claimed third place by a single point, making it one of the closest finishes in recent history.

In the Corinthian division, Ed Barker sailing Magic Dragon USA 1071 emerged victorious, with Andrew Cumming on Blackadder II CAN 1451 in second place, and Stein Skaane on Destiny USA 988 in third. The event faced challenges, including strong gusts that forced the Race Committee to cancel racing on Day 2. Despite this, the fleet enjoyed competitive racing, with the final day delivering one more race to complete the series.

Looking ahead, Marblehead’s Etchells fleet is excited to host the New England Championships at the Boston Yacht Club in 2025. The organizers expressed their gratitude to all participants, officials, volunteers, and sponsors who made the event possible.

Overall Results:
1. John Dane III (USA) – DanEgerous
2. Jim Cunningham (USA) – Lifted
3. Luke Lawrence (CAN) – Cruel Jane 2
And so on… (continuation of the results table)
