Swiss Vendée Globe Skipper Oliver Heer Announces New Title Sponsor

"Tut gut. Sailing" has been confirmed as the new name for the Swiss sailing team Oliver Heer Ocean Racing. Appointing a title sponsor just months before the Vendée Globe, scheduled for November 2024, is a significant achievement for this small Swiss team.

This financial support plays a crucial role for Heer, allowing the team to make necessary upgrades to their 2007 Farr designed IMOCA 60. The focus of these enhancements is on reliability, safety, and ergonomics. Improvements will include refitting electronics and boosting redundancy, as well as ensuring adequate spares. These essential upgrades will enhance the vessel’s competitiveness in the demanding non-stop, round-the-world race, which is expected to take approximately three months to complete.

At 36, Heer hails from Zurich and is on track to become the first sailor representing the German-speaking region of Switzerland in the Vendée Globe. His journey has not been without obstacles over the past three years, but through determination, passion, and a calm demeanor, Heer has navigated these challenges, gaining invaluable experience that will benefit him and the team in the race.

The phrase "Tut gut." embodies multiple meanings. It translates from Burgerstein Vitamine as "Good For You," referring to the natural ingredients of its health products. A secondary interpretation celebrates those who strive to achieve their goals and dreams—wonderfully fitting for Heer, who has remained steadfast in his quest to qualify for the Vendée Globe amid numerous hurdles.

Tanja Zimmermann-Burgerstein, CEO of Burgerstein Vitamine, has supported Heer’s campaign since 2022 and is thrilled to elevate this support to the status of title sponsor. She remarked, "As the title sponsor of Oliver Heer, we back a unique project representing the peak of human resilience and the relentless pursuit of dreams. Just like in entrepreneurship, where you may face challenges alone but are supported by a team, it shows that with courage and determination, we can reach the impossible together."

Heer expressed his excitement, saying, "We are thrilled to become ‘Tut gut. Sailing.’ The financial support is crucial for us to refit and equip the boat. Our partnership aligns with our shared values. Prioritizing my health and wellbeing is vital for successfully completing the Vendée Globe. Burgerstein is among the most trusted brands in Switzerland, and I take great pride in being associated with them and carrying the ‘Tut gut.’ slogan on my sails."

With the added support from Burgerstein Vitamine, Oliver Heer and the Tut gut. Sailing team are well-positioned to tackle the Vendée Globe and compete in one of sailing’s most challenging offshore races.
