Probable light winds and unclear sea conditions expected for racing to resume

Light winds and a confused sea state are expected for the resumption of racing in the Louis Vuitton Cup and UniCredit Youth America’s Cup. A nearby Mistral is creating challenging conditions for the AC40 and AC75 crews as they take to the water on September 18, 2024.

The weather forecast for the day predicts a North-East wind gradient in the morning, turning to the East and blowing around 5 to 8 knots in the afternoon with gusts up to 12 knots. The sea state will feature waves of 1 meter from the East with a 6-second period. The sky will be partly cloudy with temperatures reaching 24°C over land and 21°C over the water.

For those watching the races, live coverage will be available on YouTube starting at 0830hrs UTC. The Louis Vuitton Cup Semi-Finals will feature matchups between teams such as INEOS Britannia, Alinghi Red Bull Racing, Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli, and American Magic.

After the races, viewers can use Virtual Eye from ARL to replay key moments or the entire race in 3D. The tool allows for zooming in, out, and around the action just like in a helicopter.
