Catch Me If You Can at Royal Harwich Yacht Club
Three years ago Royal Harwich Yacht Club introduced the Catch Me If You Can event, aiming to bring racing yachts and cruiser yachts together in a pursuit race format. The event is open to all members with yachts of various sizes. The races are held monthly over 5 months, with handicaps adjusted throughout the year.
The latest race saw 14 yachts participating on a sunny day with light winds. The course took the sailors down the Orwell River, across the Stour River, and back home, with most boats finishing near the club. The day ended with a gathering on the lawn for drinks and food.
A glass etched with “I caught them” was awarded to the winner, Simon Ruffles on Jameerah J120. Plans are already in place for the 2025 season, where efforts will be made to ensure a variety of winners.
