Rolex Maxi Yacht Cup and Rolex IMA Maxi 1 Worlds: The Ultimate Sailing Events



The Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup and Rolex IMA Maxi 1 Worlds on Day 3 saw a change in wind conditions, with the race committee adjusting the start time to take advantage of the weather. The event, organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda and the International Maxi Association, witnessed near-perfect sailing conditions for the maxi fleet.

The day’s races included windward-leewards for the 82 to 100-footers in the Rolex IMA Maxi 1 World Championship and a coastal course for other classes. Competitors faced varying wind directions and strengths throughout the day, providing a challenging but exciting racing experience.

In the Maxi 1 class, V and Capricorno showcased strong performances, with Wendy Schmidt’s Deep Blue currently leading the championship. In Maxi 2, Proteus and Jolt battled it out for the top spot, while in Maxi 3, Oscar 3 emerged victorious.

International Maxi Association President Benoît de Froidmont’s Wallyño and Lord Irvine Laidlaw’s Highland Fling 18 impressed in their respective classes, showing exceptional sailing skills in the changing conditions.
